Small but Sweet Sixteen

This weekend, my family and I celebrated my daughter’s 16th birthday with a “boho chic style/luxury picnic for a party of six. With the way the world is now, this was the way my daughter decided to celebrate, keeping all safety precautions in mind. A small, but sweet sixteen. The intimate setting allowed for the young women to enjoy themselves precociously.

We took time to figure out what she wanted.  Inside of the house – no. Large party in a well-designed event space with a lot of people – nah. A picnic! Outside and airy. How lovely. Let’s make it happen!

First, I thought of what and how we can make this picnic fun and fancy at the same time. I asked around and found some pallets to use for the table, pieced together some items for the settings, ordered a few things from Amazon, Party City, and…*cue the sparklers*

Few notes – I decided against the use of the pallets because of the smell, damage to some of the boards, peeling of the wood, and overall feel of it. It didn’t mesh right away for me, so I went with an alternate option. I used some tables I found at Ikea. Theses table added to the overall flow of what I was looking for.  Reminder for any of your projects – work within your vision and budget.

BEFORE THE PARTY – THE SETUP

Most of the items displayed on the tables were items I found within my home.  It allowed us the opportunity to use the fancy flatware and tableware that we use for special occasions.

Check out the video from my YouTube page “Elle Davis Design,” to see how I styled the settings.

Enjoy
