In The Decorating Dumps

In a blink of an eye, December arrived and you have not begun decorating. Now it’s overwhelming.

I completely understand. This year, the months going by resembled this
J-a-n-u-a-r-y, FebMarAprMay, J-u-n-e, JulyAugSepOctNovDec. You have no idea what to do for decorations and it’s not looking too promising on if you will get it done at all. All likelihood, in your mind, it’s a wrap. Fear not, all hope is not lost. You are in decorating dumps. Here are a few ways to bring you out. It’s simple, and it should be. The last thing to do when you are feeling blah, is to make yourself even more overwhelmed.

1. Give yourself a break. Don’t feel pressured to do the most, or anything that makes you feel hurried, rushed, or resentful.

2. Stay in your lane. You see what going big did for the Griswold’s (see National Lampoons Christmas Vacation). If you didnt see it, check it out. A little light fare never hurt. Find your lane and coast.

3. Use the KISS method. Keep it simple. You do not have to overdo it. You can have a tree with no bulbs, or a tree with just the lights, to no tree at all and simpley add a table centerpiece.

4. Make your holiday fit you. Grace and space is the name of the game. I can’t tell you how beautfiul a few candles can be in a room. Make this your decor.

Simply this, take your time with yourself. You should feel love and the warmth of what the holiday season means, not anxiety.
