Your plants need the same love in the cooler months. Although, they may not require as much handling and prodding because, the winter, means plants are a little dormant, prepping them to survive the winter is as important as getting them ready for the warmer months.
Adjust the feeding schedule for your type of plant. Prep the fertilizing according to the the plant guidelines. Most plants will only require fertilizing once all winter and some not at all.
If you’re bringing plants from outside to now reside inside the home, be sure to cleanse the plant of any bugs that may have traveled with them by soaking the plants in a bucket of water to drown out the bugs or by adding insecticidal soap (check label instructions on directions of use) to the plants. Allow time for the soap to take effect and cleanse the plant.
- Be sure to prune away dead sections
- Replenish dirt/soil
- Fertilize
- Water
Lastly, place the plants in a location to maximize the sunlight and where the temperature is amiable to the growth of the plant.
Happy planting. xoxo
