The kids are home and the house is full. Time to break out the chore routine for everyone. This WILL be a team effort, ha!
Keeping it easy and simple, because school is just as demanding for my kids and I want them to actually have time to relax and regroup as well. The start of spring break I made a candy tray to sit on my kitchen island. I usually style my tray with flowers and spring/Easter decor. This time I decided to go with a temporary look. Flowers die and the decor replacements can be costly and trendy – which means the next year, your spending more to make a temporary table setting look nice.
I chose to do something everyone would enjoy – candy and sweets. This would also ensure that the setting would be gone after a period of time – removing itself, instead of me tossing it away or putting it back in storage.
Now a few comments I’ve received is, “that wouldn’t last a day in my house.” Well that may be true, I have found a way to combat that (at least in my home). I incorporate items that I know my kids don’t like that I do mixed in with the treats – for instance – wrapped peppermints, ginger snaps, etc. It may not work in your home but it slows it down a little in mine. That and the mention that I created this beautiful design for my page, guilt trips them into making it last. Whatever you gotta do family, you know your home best.
Spring break is only one week. Have fun while you can. The memories are what matter.
Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
Oh no. hopefully she’ll change her mind. Sorry that happended.
